City of Calgary Property Tax Assessments
It’s that time of the year again! Homeowners in the City of Calgary will be receiving their property tax assessment notices starting in January 2024. Your property tax assessment outlines the suggested value of your home, not to be confused with your property tax bill that won’t be sent out until May.
You may notice a considerable increase in your home value, as property values have generally risen. Your property taxes for 2024 will be based on your assessed value, so if you think yours is too high, then you may wish to consider appealing the value. Keep in mind that the assessed value is based on the value as of July 1, 2023 and the characteristics and conditions of the property as of December 31, 2023. The deadline to appeal is March 11, 2024

You should receive your property tax bill no later than the first week of June. If you haven’t received a copy you can call 311 to obtain an up-to-date statement of account.
Property taxes are due in full June 30, 2024, if you pay annually to avoid any penalties. You can also set-up for monthly withdrawals through the TIPP program to avoid paying one lump sum annually. On July 1 and October 1, 2024, a 7% penalty is added to any unpaid tax balances!
